Apple’s new iPhone will feature a 4.6″ Retina display [Rumor]

With Apple’s latest iPad out of the way, the next mobile device we can look forward to from Apple, assuming the rumors of an iPad mini don’t pan out, would be the next-generation iPhone, which some have already started to dub the iPhone 5. So what kind of specs are we looking at here? Well if the recent set of rumors are to be believed, the new iPhone will sport a massive 4.6” Retina display and is expected to see a launch in the second quarter of 2012.

This is according to South Korean media outlets who revealed that Apple had already placed orders for 4.6” display panels, but Samsung and LG, both of whom are Apple’s primary display manufacturers have declined to comment, a little odd considering it was allegedly Samsung who outed Apple’s plans for the rumored iPad mini. In any case, the larger display is expected to go up against Apple’s rivals such as Samsung who introduced a 4.6” OLED display on the Samsung Galaxy S2 last year.

As usual with all Apple rumors, it’s best taken with a grain of salt for now although a Q2 launch seems a little suspicious given that Apple’s products usually have a yearly refresh to them. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled, so check back with us later for more updates.
