Alcatel Venture budget Android handset coming to Virgin Mobile

If you’re in the market for an affordable Android smartphone, you might be interested in taking a look at the Alcatel Venture Android smartphone that will be arriving on Virgin Mobile’s network come 15th of March for $99. While it’s not the most powerful or feature rich Android smartphone we’ve come across to date, we’re guessing its price point should make it an attractive purchase for first time smartphone owners or for those looking for a backup device.

As far as its specs are concerned, the Alcatel Venture will be powered by a 600MHz processor, a 2.8” touchscreen display, a 2MP rear-facing camera with 512MB of RAM and will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box. It will come with a microSD card slot for memory expansion and a free 2GB card that you can use if you don’t want to purchase additional memory. The Alcatel Venture is currently available for pre-order from Virgin Mobile’s website.
