Skype Beta for Windows Phone could be coming soon

With Microsoft acquiring Skype back in 2011, it was not surprising that it was later revealed that the company had plans to integrate Skype into their Windows Phone platform. Well the good news is that if you were excited at the possibility of seeing Skype launch on Windows Phone, the wait may be coming to an end.

According to an anonymous tip sent to WP7Lab, it seems that Microsoft has sent out emails to their employees notifying them that a Beta version of Skype for Windows Phone will be coming soon, which will effectively begin the internal testing phase. If that is the case, we expect it would’t be too long before Microsoft decides to release it for the publics’ consumption (at the very least in a workable Beta form).

Previous rumors have suggested that a Beta version of Skype for Windows Phone will be arriving for the Windows Phone Tango update, while a fully integrated version of Skype will be released with Windows Phone Apollo (also known as Windows Phone 8). Perhaps we will be able to catch a glimpse of it come MWC 2012.
