Apple’s next-generation iPad is undoubtedly a highly-anticipated device by both fans and its detractors alike. Given how both the iPad and the iPad 2 sport similar displays, it has long been expected and rumored that the iPad 3 will feature a new and amazing display that will give the competition a run for their money. However thanks to MacRumors, they have managed to obtain one of the alleged displays for the iPad 3 and it looks like those rumors might be true after all.

Upon inspecting the display under the microscope, it was discovered that the iPad 3’s alleged display’s pixels are a quarter the size of the iPad 2’s, meaning that the the pixels are more densely packed which theoretically should provide a much more sharper viewing experience. The current iPad and iPad 2’s display is set at 1024×768, which means that if this display panel does indeed belong to the iPad 3, we could be looking at a tablet with a display resolution of 2048×1536!

Just to be clear, these panels were not stolen or taken directly from Apple, but from OEMs who had labelled these display panels are replacement parts for the iPad 3. This means that there is really no way to confirm whether they are meant for the iPad 3 until Apple actually announces the information themselves, so in the mean time we suggest you take all of this with a grain of salt.
