Nokia bets the bank with Windows Phone, have no backup plan

We know that Nokia pretty much threw their lot in with Microsoft when they decided to forgo Symbian and MeeGo in favor of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, but many are wondering if the choice to go for Windows Phone will save the company in a world filled with iOS and Android devices. So far based on several reviews and feedback, Nokia’s offerings in the form of the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 have been pretty good, and with the Finnish company expecting to release the Lumia 900 soon, it looks like Nokia has three Windows Phone devices under their belt, but will that be enough?

We’re sure many are wondering if Nokia has a backup plan, but as it turns out, and according to Nokia’s VP Victor Saeijes, the answer is no. In fact it seems that Nokia has banked everything they’ve got on Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, with their Plan B being that “Plan A must succeed”. With Windows Phone 8 expected to see a release later in 2012, and with manufacturer restrictions expected to be relaxed more for Windows Phone 8 (think multiple core processors and what not), perhaps Windows Phone and Nokia will start seeing better growth for 2012 and can finally reap the fruits of their labor.
