Mod disables Galaxy Nexus’ navigation buttons in exchange for full screen viewing experience

Galaxy Nexus owners, do you feel that despite your phone sporting a rather large display that it is not being fully utilized? Well if you do feel that way, you’re in luck as an XDA forum member, mrx8836350, has managed to develop a method that will get rid of the virtual navigation buttons on your device, thus allowing your apps, movies, videos, webpages, etc to take up the entire screen.

Unfortunately the method to achieve this effect requires the user to modify the phone’s Framework.res file, replacing it with the modified version. This really isn’t for the faint of heart nor is it for the first time modder to try out themselves. However the good news is that the developer has released flashable ZIP files for the stock GSM Galaxy Nexus, Android Open Kang Project and Apex ROMs. If you’d like to try it out for yourselves, head on over to the XDA forums for the download link and instructions, but keep in mind that you are proceeding at your own risk and we cannot be held liable should anything happen to your device!
