Microsoft refutes Microsoft Office iPad app?

Remember yesterday we reported on an alleged photo obtained by The Daily which they claim to be Microsoft Office running on the iPad? Well as it turns out, that photo could very well be a fake, or so Microsoft is claiming. The Daily on the other hand are insisting that it is not a fake and that it is a real demo on Microsoft Office for the iPad that was shown to them by somebody from Microsoft.

Microsoft says that it is “not Microsoft software”, and tweeted in response to the photo by saying “Great respect for The Daily but regrettably someone is giving them bad info, and that’ll be clear in the “coming weeks.”” Interestingly they are not denying the existence or possibility of Microsoft Office for the iPad, so could that information be confirmed by Microsoft themselves in the “coming weeks”?

Usually when companies step forward themselves to refute rumors or leaks, there’s a good chance that there’s really nothing to it, but in this case the absence of denial is a rather interesting one. Either way we’ll be keeping an eye out for this, so check back with us in the “coming weeks” for more information!
