LG Optimus L5 officially announced

If the LG Optimus L7’s 4.3” display is a bit too big for your liking, or if you’re worried that the larger display will come with a higher cost, fret not as LG has unveiled the Optimus L5 with a smaller display and a slightly less powerful processor, ultimately ensuring a somewhat affordable price tag upon its release.

As opposed to the LG Optimus L7’s 4.3” display, the L5 will sport a 4” display and will also come with LG’s “floating mass display”, which for those who might have missed the news or who might have forgotten, is a feature that LG is introducing which brings the display closer to the screen’s surface, thereby giving the viewer the illusion that the display is “floating”.

Underneath the hood of the L5, users can expect to find an 800MHz single-core processor with a 5MP rear-facing camera with LED flash. The phone will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich preinstalled and will come with support for NFC and HDRI, but there is a chance that the NFC feature may be omitted when it arrives stateside, since its availability is subject to the various regions the phone is launched in.

The LG Optimus L5 will be seeing a launch in Europe in the first half of 2012, but no word on pricing or a date when the phone will be arriving stateside. Do check back with us in the future for additional updates on the device.
