For those who aren’t living in France or UK but would like to get their hands on an Intel smartphone, the good news is that Intel and Lava have announced the XOLO X900 Android smartphone for India, and much like the Orange Santa Clara, it will be powered by Intel’s new Medfield platform.

Considering that the Orange Santa Clara and XOLO X900 are based off Intel’s reference design, their specs are virtually identical, save for the European-specific apps and services by Orange. If you’ve missed the news or if you have forgotten, this means that the XOLO X900 will feature a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 4” 1024×600 display and will feature HSPA+ connectivity courtesy of the Intel XMM 6260 platform.

It will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread preinstalled, along with support for HDMI, NFC and HD video playback. No word on pricing but it is expected to see a launch in India come early Q2 2012.
