iOS 5.1 screenshot reveals Japanese update for Siri

iOS 5.1 has yet to see a release, some are pegging its release to be around the same time that the iPad 3, but whatever the case, screenshots showing iOS 5.1 in its pre-GM (golden master) form reveals some of the changes that Apple will be bringing to their OS in its latest iteration.

One of the features we had expected was the inclusion of the Japanese language for Siri. This was “leaked” by Siri herself when she revealed that she would be able to speak Japanese amongst the other languages the voice assistant currently speaks, which includes English (support for both UK and Australian dialects), French and German. As pictured in the screenshot above, it certainly looks like the Japanese language support will be added in iOS 5.1.

The next feature revealed in the screenshot appears to be direct access to the camera app via the lock screen. Previously users have to double press the home button in order to bring up the camera button which was not the most elegant solution. Apparently in iOS 5.1, the camera button will be available and swiping up on it will load the app. We’re sure a bunch of other features will be arriving for iOS 5.1, so stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated!
