Instagram for Android leaked ahead of schedule?

Heads up Android users, if you’ve been jealous of your iOS friend’s ability to shoot and upload photos via Instagram, the wait might soon be over. Yes we know that the app is coming to Android, and thanks to a leak, that might be sooner than we think. The leak is courtesy of a Phandroid tip which showed an Android UI with a notification letting them know that Instagram for Android was now available for download.

Unfortunately the leak cannot be verified and could very well be malware for all we know. It wasn’t too long ago that a fake Instagram app managed to find its way onto the Android Market from an unknown developer but has since been pulled. Either way if you’re looking forward to snapping and sharing Instagram photos from your Android phone, take this with a grain of salt for now and stay away from apps claiming to be Instagram, at least until an official announcement has been made by the developers themselves!
