iBamboo Urban speaker dock for your iPhone aims to be eco-friendly

Looking for a speaker dock for your iPhone? Well if you are, you might want to take a look at the iBamboo Urban speaker by Anatoliy Omelchenko of Triangle Tree. If the speaker dock above looks familiar, it’s because its predecessor was an actual speaker dock made from bamboo, but it seems that many requests for a plastic version of the speaker dock has prompted the creation of the iBamboo Urban, which we admit looks just as good if not better.

For those unfamiliar, the iBamboo does not really feature any electronics as far as amplifying the sound is concerned. Instead it relies on the natural acoustics within the bamboo to amplify the sound coming from the iPhone/iPod touch. However unlike bamboo, plastic has its own acoustic qualities which Omelchenko has described as a more crisp sound. Sticking with the “green” philosophy, the iBamboo Urban will be made from recycled plastic and eco-friendly materials. The device is currently being prototyped and if put into production is expected to retail for $29. [Product page]
