HTC Fireball gains WiFi certifcation

A while back, thanks to Verizon’s inventory system, we got a glimpse of a device that has been given the code name, the HTC Fireball. Given HTC’s new naming schemes, it seems unlikely the device will be called that upon release, so we have to wonder if the Fireball moniker could be tied to any of the recently leaked HTC devices, but for now it seems that the device has recently gained WiFi certification which revealed several details.

We now know that the HTC Fireball will sport a 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz 802.1.1 a/b/g/n WiFi connectivity, and it seems that the speculators are thinking that the HTC Fireball could be the successor to the DROID Incredible 2. Photos of the successor, which will most likely be known as the DROID Incredible 3, surfaced a couple of weeks ago, and based on the rumors the handset will sport a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a qHD display with an 8MP rear-facing camera and with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board.

There may be a chance that the HTC Fireball will be announced at MWC, but if not, and assuming Verizon is keeping to their schedule, we could be seeing the official launch of the device in about another month or so.
