Good news folks, if you guys have been rooting for the Google/Motorola Mobility deal to go through, it looks like everything is now in the clear. According to Google’s blog, they revealed that the European Commission has just approved the acquisition deal, and on top of that the US Justice Department has also announced that their investigation into the acquisition is now officially closed.

It will be interesting to see what Google and Motorola can bring to the table. While Google has promised to run Motorola Mobility as a separate unit and keeping Android as an open source project, given how Google now has a handset manufacturing arm of its own, it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination to think that they won’t try to leverage that to their own benefit. Either way whether you’re a fan of the Android platform or not, as far as the progress of technology is concerned, these are exciting times we are living in.
