Bogus Pokemon Yellow app tops iTunes app charts

Apple for the most part has been pretty good with security when it comes to apps they allow onto their iTunes App Store, however there are occasions when a doozy slips past them and we have to wonder if the person in charge was sleeping at their desk when that happens. While we can’t actually confirm the app this time round ourselves, it seems that the ever popular Pokemon Yellow has made its way into the iTunes App Store, a bogus version at least.

Now as most of you guys know, Nintendo has claimed they have no interest in making games for mobile devices, which is why we guess this bogus version of Pokemon Yellow managed to reach number 2 in the iTunes Paid Apps chart. Unfortunately based on the reviews and feedback, the app crashes upon reaching the title screen. The developer, QEAB, has issued a statement:

“If you are experiencing issues with Pokémon Yellow, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience,” says the company’s website. “Thanks for your patience while we thoroughly investigate this issue. We are working on a new build and we anticipate this will be completed soon, which should overcome the issue. Again, apologies for the inconvenience.”

So are they legit, or is this just a scam to make some quick money? Either way if you were planning on getting your hands on the game, it looks like the game has since been removed from the app store. We’re not sure if it was by choice or if was done by Apple, but if you were unfortunate enough to have bought the game, you will be able to get a refund through Apple’s customer service desk.
