Blackberry Playbook OS 2.0 update dropping 21st Feb?

Blackberry Playbook owners, if you’re still hanging on to your tablet and hoping that the Playbook OS 2.0 update will give it a new lease on life, your wait might be coming to an end. Previously the rumors had pegged the release date of the Playbook OS 2.0 update for the 21st of February, and now a fresh set of rumors has apparently “confirmed” the 21st of February as the release date of the update.

For those wondering about the significance, the Playbook OS 2.0 update is expected to bring over some missing features that many had come to expect from the tablet. This includes native email, calendar, and contacts app, but unfortunately if you were looking forward to BBM, you might be out of luck although that is still accessible through the Bridge app.

Either way this is a significant upgrade so we’re a bit excited to see if RIM will be able to deliver what they have promised, and if it will truly make the experience an all new one. Granted it’s still a rumor so we suggest you take it with a grain of salt for now, but the 21st of February might be a date worth marking down in your calendar – at least for now.
