Samsung Epic 2 spotted on Cellebrite system

For subscribers on Sprint, if you have been looking forward to the successor of the Samsung EPIC 4G (Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S), you might be in luck as a leaked photo (pictured above) has shown that the Samsung SPH-D705 has appeared in Cellebrite’s system as the Samsung Epic 2.

The device originally rumored to arrive on Sprint in Q3 of 2011, but given that it is already Q1 of 2011, safe to say the device did not arrive as planned. However given that Sprint already has the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, we’re not sure if the carrier still has any interest in the successor to the EPIC 4G, which was basically the Galaxy S with a slideout QWERTY keyboard, and which we’re assuming will be another defining feature for the Epic 2.

Either way for those looking for a possible successor to the EPIC 4G, we wouldn’t rule out completely that it won’t be arriving on Sprint, but there’s a good chance it could arrive on regional carriers instead, much like the HTC Merge.
