Official Wikipedia app for Android launched

While Wikipedia may be currently protesting against the SOPA and PIPA bills, that has not stopped them from releasing what appears to be the official Wikipedia app for Android. iOS users have long enjoyed the official app for Wikipedia on their iOS devices, but now it seems like Android users will be able to do the same as well.

The app will come with a host of features such as the ability to save an article for offline reading, searching for nearby articles, reading articles in another language as well as sharing articles thanks to the built-in “Share” function that comes with the app. The app naturally is free, much like how the web version of Wikipedia is, so if you’re looking to get your hands on the official Wikipedia app for Android, hop on over to the Android Market for the download.
