Motorola Droid receives early CyanogenMod 9 port

For those still holding on to the Motorola Droid (or the OG as it is affectionately known in Android circles), the good news is that an early Alpha port of CyanogenMod 9 has been made available for your device. This port would basically bring Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onto your already rooted device, but it should be noted that this appears to be a very early Alpha build of the port.

What this means is that there are several key features/functionality that will not be working, such as camera and hardware accelerated video decoding, meaning that apps such as Netflix will not work, nor will users be able to stream YouTube videos in HD. However if you are interested in flashing this ROM onto your Motorola Droid just to check out what Android 4.0 would be like on your device, you will be able to find the download link, instructions and further information over at the XDA forums.

Once again proceed at your own risk, even the developer has stated that this should not be used as your daily driver, but for those with prior experience or who are simply too curious to pass this up, by all means proceed!
