Motorola Droid RAZR Developer’s Edition to be released?

Good news developers, if you were upset that the Motorola Droid RAZR or the RAZR MAXX did not come with its bootloader unlocked, you’ll be pleased to learn that Motorola has heard your cries and have announced a Motorola Droid RAZR Developer’s Edition. We’re guessing that apart from its new fancy title, its internals will remain the same as the current Droid RAZR, but with the main difference that it will have its bootloader unlocked so that developers will have, well, “developers” access to the phone’s software.

No word on when the developer’s edition of the Droid RAZR will be made available, but it is expected to arrive in Europe first and should arrive for US markets later. Given how carriers prefer their users not to mess around with the software on their phones, it will be interesting to see if any carrier will be offering the developer’s edition of the Droid RAZR. At worst we guess the phone will be sold off contract and unlocked, which means that developers looking to get their hands on the device will have to pay full RRP.
