Casio G-Shock Android smartphone looks pretty tough

So we know that Casio has a couple of phones up their sleeves, and based on their offerings in the past, we guess we can’t say that we’re surprised to find out that the upcoming Casio G-Shock Android smartphone appears to be as rugged, if not more so, than its predecessors. Yes, the photo you are looking at above is apparently the new Casio G-Shock smartphone, which to be honest looks like a giant G-Shock watch.

At the moment the hardware specs of the device remain somewhat of mystery, although its operating system appears to be Android (not sure if Gingerbread 2.3 or Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0). In terms of ruggedness, the Casio G-Shock smartphone is expected to be shock resistant up to 10 feet, water resistant up to a depth of 10m, pressure resistant to 1.0 bar, features a metal case back, plastic/resin construction and will feature a camera.

Granted it’s not the most pretty of smartphones, but if a rugged smartphone is what you’re in the market for, you might want to keep an eye out for the handset, although it is not known when the device will be hitting the market.
