Whatsapp for Windows Phone updated with group chat support

Published

on

While iOS, Android, and even Blackberry users were enjoying Whatsapp, the messaging platform only made its way onto Windows Phone about 3 months ago, and 3 months later it seems that the app finally received the update that would allow for group chat, an important and popular feature among groups of friends. Granted the app was slow to arrive onto WP, but we guess better later than never, right?

The update has brought the app version up from 1.4.0 to 1.5.0 and allows for the creation/modification of group chats, hyperlinks within the chat and several performance improvements. For those unfamiliar with Whatsapp, it’s a messaging platform that exists for iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and Nokia Symbian devices.

It basically uses 3G or a WiFi connection that allows the user to send messages to friends/family for free, similar to what BBM is to Blackberry devices except that Whatsapp is cross platform capable. For Windows Phone owners who have yet to get Whatsapp or are looking to update, you will be able to download the app and view the changes at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
