US judge denies Apple’s injunction request against Samsung

We know that Apple has tried to get Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet banned in several countries as part of their ongoing legal dispute over patent infringements. Now it seems that their attempt at an injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 back in the US has been met with resistance as District Judge Lucy Koh shot down Apple’s request for an injunction.

The reason for her denying Apple’s request was because she did not see how an injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 would prevent Apple from being irreparably harmed. This is probably good news for Galaxy Tab 10.1 hopefuls in the US. So far Apple has been successful at getting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned in countries such as Australia, the Netherlands and Germany which are pretty major markets.

This is not the end of the lawsuit though. The injunction is a step in Apple’s plan as they will still attempt to prove through their patents that Samsung had infringed upon at least one of their tablet patents. Will they be successful? Well that’s hard to say and so far it seems that apart from a few instances, Apple has been scoring some major victories here.
