Good news Sony Tablet P and Tablet S owners, while Sony themselves might be late to the Android scene, they have not forgotten about their devices and has released a statement announcing that both their tablets will be receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future, although no word on when exactly the update will start rolling out.

The tablets are the first Android products under Sony’s name, who has typically pushed out Android devices under the Sony Ericsson joint venture. For those who may have forgotten, Sony Ericsson has announced their own timeline for the Android 4.0 update and has announced that the updates will start rolling out come March 2012.

Sony has announced their plans to buy out Ericsson in their joint venture and stated their intent of dropping the Ericsson moniker and start rebranding and rolling out future Android smartphones and tablets under the Sony brand. In the mean time, owners of the Tablet P and Tablet S will have Android 4.0 to look forward to come 2012.
