Samsung SCH-W999 dual-display Android smartphone appears in China

For those in the market for a rather unique Android phone, you may want to take a look at the Samsung SCH-W999. It’s a flip phone with dual 3.5” Super AMOLED 480×800 displays, dual-SIM card slots and dual-mode connectivity (GSM and CDMA2000). The bad news is that it appears to be launched with China’s market in mind, so there’s no word if Samsung has plans to bring this phone over stateside or the rest of the world.

As far as its other specs are concerned, the SCH-W999 will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 processor, a regular keypad reminiscent of feature phones, a 5MP rear-facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, GPS and will run on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3 with the TouchWiz UI along with a HyperSkin back cover that is similar to that on the Galaxy Nexus.

The dual displays could come in handy, allowing one to use it as a regular flip phone or to use it as a full touch screen device if they chose to, and the dual-SIM and dual-mode connectivity could be rather appealing for those who want to balance both work and personal mobile phone accounts on a single device. No word on pricing just yet.
