Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S will not be receiving Android 4.0 update

For those who own Samsung’s Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S devices, it looks like in the official capacity, Samsung will not be providing the Android 4.0 update for your devices. According to Samsung, this has to do with their TouchWiz UI which apparently will not run smoothly when it is ported over onto Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This basically translates to Samsung preferring to keep their UI, which undoubtedly many Android users have discarded upon rooting, rather than roll out Android 4.0 updates to their customers.

Perhaps we’re being a bit harsh and we’re sure that Samsung has their reasons, but it looks like if you want to get Android 4.0 on your Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S device, you will have to turn to the Android developers community who so far have been nothing short of amazing at rolling out ports and ROMs to devices no matter how old or obscure. Who knows, Samsung might change their minds in the future especially if there’s is too much backlash from the bombshell they just dropped, but for now the developers community would be your best bet.
