Fans of Samsung products will be pleased to hear that the South Korean manufacturer has plans to ramp up the shipment of their phones in 2012 to a whopping 374 million, which they are hoping to rival Nokia. While Nokia may not have the lead nor the advantage when it comes to smartphones, they are still doing pretty well for themselves in terms of feature phones especially in developing countries where demand for smartphones is less due to cost issues.

Nokia has plans to ship 399 million, which means that Samsung will be pretty close behind but who knows what’s in store for 2012. Will Samsung manage to beat out Nokia in both smartphone and feature phones, or will 2012 be Nokia’s year with the possible launch of a new set of Windows Phone devices? Either way 2012 should be a pretty exciting world for the tech and mobile industry, so we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out!
