Quad-core, 720p HD display iPhone 5 rumored to be undergoing testing

Barely over 2 months since the iPhone 4S was released that rumors of the iPhone 5 have started to pop up all over the internet, although given the nature of the tech blogosphere and the excitement over Apple’s products we guess that can’t be helped. The latest set of rumors surrounding the iPhone 5 seems to suggest a larger display and a possible quad-core processor as well.

According to the rumors, Apple is reportedly testing out both quad-core and dual-core variants of the iPhone 5 along with a variety of screen resolutions. This includes a possible 720p HD display on the iPhone 5 with a resolution of 1280×720, a resolution that some of the higher Android phones currently feature so we guess we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple decided to play catch up (or possibly outdo) their competitors.

However the rumors did mention that these processors and displays are being “tested”, which means that depending on cost and design and Apple’s marketing strategy, they may or may not make it into the final product that will eventually be bought by consumers. Either way a quad-core iPhone 5 with a 720p HD display? Sounds almost too good to be true.
