Panasonic along with other Japanese brands such as NEC and Fujitsu have yet to really penetrate the US smartphone market although word on the street is that Panasonic has plans in the making. We have to wonder why especially since Japanese smartphone users seem to get access to tons of cool smartphones that some of us in the states wish we had, and it looks like come 2012, those living in Europe might get a taste of Panasonic’s new smartphone series.

This move was announced the company themselves and their aim is to introduce a smartphone series in Europe come Q1 of 2012. Not much is know about their plans and what sort of smartphones they’re looking to launch specifically, but according to Panasonic this new smartphone will feature a 4.3” AMOLED display with a qHD resolution, will be both waterproof and dustproof, NFC capable and will run on Android. Sounds pretty good so far, and who knows, Panasonic could have a working prototype up and running in time for CES/MWC 2012.
