Motorola MOTOACTV hacked to run Angry Birds

Motorola recently rolled out their “sports” watch, the MOTOACTV, and the good news for those who got their hands on the device is that if you ever wanted to root it and transform it into a mini tablet, you might just be able to thanks to Chris Wade, the man behind the Blackberry Playbook “Dingleberry” hack.

Basically after taking the MOTOACTV apart to find out what’s making the device tick (pardon the pun), he then put it back together and rooted the underlying OS of the device which was Android Gingerbread 2.3. He then sideloaded the stock Android Honeycomb 3.2 launcher and voila! He got himself a 1.6” “tablet” that can even connect to the Android Market to buy games/apps/etc.

If you’d like to try this out for yourself (proceed at your own risk!), head on over to Chris Wade’s website for the download link and instructions. If not you can always check out the video below to see a demonstration of the rooted MOTOACTV running a game of Angry Birds.
