Intel Medfield tablet spotted in the wild

We know Intel has plans to enter the mobile market with their Medfield processors, and thanks to a leak, what we are looking at above is allegedly an Android-based Intel Medfield tablet. According to the tipster who leaked the information and photos to Android Community, the device will feature a 10.1” display with an Intel dual-core Medfield Atom processor that has been clocked at 1.6GHz. It will feature a variety of ports and appears to be running on Android Honeycomb 3.x.

Of course we don’t expect Intel to start churning out Intel-branded tablets, so there’s a good chance that this tablet is probably a reference design or prototype that Intel will most likely show off at CES 2012. Based on various reports, it seems that we should be able to expect Medfield-based devices in the first half of 2012, which supposedly outdoes NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 and even Qualcomm’s S3 dual-core processors, although we suggest that you should probably take all of that with a grain of salt for now, at least until official testing and benchmarks have been released.
