Huawei Ideos X5 finally receives Gingerbread update

If you happen to own the Huawei Ideos X5, you will be pleased to hear that the Android Gingerbread 2.3 update has finally started to make its way to your device. Yes, that’s right, a little over a year after the phone was launched and it is only now seeing an upgrade from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3, which ultimately still puts it behind in terms of OS updates considering how Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is already available.

While Huawei did demonstrate and released a “demo” version of Android 4.0 for the Huawei Honor, we’re not sure how optimistic we feel about the Ideos X5 receiving the Android 4.0 in the future. Either way we guess it’s better to be one version behind rather than two, right? If you have yet to update you Ideos X5, you will be able to find the 192.15MB update from Huawei’s website.
