According to The Verge, it would appear that both HTC and Samsung have plans for LTE-capable Windows Phone handsets with a pre-Tango version of Windows Phone on board. Specifications of the rumored devices remain a bit sketchy and little to nothing is known at the moment apart from their names.

HTC’s upcoming WP phone will be known as the HTC Radiant while Samsung’s offering will be known as the Mendel. The Samsung Mendel is also expected to feature a large screen that could possibly see a larger display than the Samsung Focus S which is currently at 4.3”. Microsoft’s plans for LTE-capable devices are no secret and they have announced that they are planning LTE Windows Phone devices for the future.

Nokia was also previously rumored to have been testing a LTE-capable Lumia 800 on AT&T and Verizon’s networks, and if The Verge’s sources are correct, we could be seeing both the HTC Radiant and the Samsung Mendel launch alongside Nokia’s LTE-capable Windows Phone devices in early 2012.
