Google Wallet headed to more vending machines near you

Good news Nexus S owners! If you’ve been looking for more ways to utilize the Google Wallet feature on your phone, the good news is that Cantaloupe Systems has been working with several vending machine operators in the San Francisco, Chicago and mid-Atlantic region to allow users to use their mobile phones to pay for goods.

Naturally this technology would incorporate the NFC feature found on the Nexus S, or to be more specific it will use Google Wallet as its mobile payment service. Stickers will be placed on the vending machines to let customers know that the machines are Google Wallet compatible.

At the moment it still appears as though the Nexus S is the only device that is capable of using Google Wallet’s services, although we’re not sure if the Galaxy Nexus will be compatible in the future, especially since the device will be launched on Verizon’s network and the Google Wallet feature is a partnership between Sprint and Google.
