AT&T pays T-Mobile $4 billion breakup fee

We’re sure that most of you guys have probably heard by now that AT&T has decided to withdraw their application for approval regarding the merger between them and T-Mobile. In a way we can’t say that we’re surprised considering how much opposition the carrier has faced from all sides, such as competing carriers like Sprint, and even the Department of Justice has been giving them a hard a time.

Well as per their agreement with T-Mobile’s parent company, Deutsche Telekom, AT&T will have to pay a breakup fee of $4 billion. $3 billion will be in cash while the remaining $1 billion will be in the form of wireless spectrum which looks like will help T-Mobile start building their own 4G LTE network. Either way it looks like the whole AT&T/T-Mobile saga has finally come to a somewhat unhappy (for AT&T) end.
