Archos G9 tablet series to receive Android 4.0 in 2012

If you happen to own any of the Archos G9 series of tablets, the good news is that the company has announced that come Q1 or 2012, both the Archos 101 G9 and the Archos 80 G9 will be receiving the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. No specific dates were mentioned although we’re guessing that at least we know there are plans for an update rather than being left in the dark.

Now if you were considering getting an Archos tablet or were on the fence, let’s just say that a dual-core TI OMAP GPU tablet along with the promise of Android 4.0 in the first quarter of 2012 does make the asking price of $279 slightly more attractive, although who’s to say other manufacturers won’t follow suit and update their tablets next year too.
