Android 4.0 ported onto the Archos 101 G9 10″ tablet

We had reported earlier that Archos announced their plans to update their G9 tablets to Android 4.0 in early 2012. Unfortunately no specific date was given and we’re guessing there are probably a handful of Archos tablet owners out there who might be too impatient to wait for an official update.

If you think you fall into that category, the good news is that an XDA forum member LeTama has posted a video showing an early build of Android 4.0 on the Archos 101 G9 tablet. There are quite a number of functions still not working but we’re guessing that this will eventually be sorted out in due time, and the good news is that LeTama did not just post this video to tease Archos owners at a possible Android 4.0.

It seems that once he gets the WiFi issue sorted out on the ROM, LeTama will be sharing the ROM with other Archos owners. In the mean time you can check out the video below to see Android 4.0 on the tablet, or to follow the progress of the build, head on down to the XDA forums.
