Nokia N900 gets Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Who would have thought that a handset like the Nokia N900, long thought of to be somewhat “dead” to the masses, might actually have it turned into a possible cult device – simply because a hacker who prefers to be known as “Drunkdebugger” decided to introduce a new project called NITDroid – where this will mean that Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is ported over to Nokia’s platform. Yes sir, this is an extremely early build, so do expect to be on the receiving end of your fair share of bugs and non-working features.

In fact, it would be fair to qualify this particular port as “pre-pre-alpha,” in order for the masses to not get their expectations up. Well, at least this port proves one thing – there is always some life left in the legs of old and discontinued devices, it is only a matter of how large the fan base is. I mean, take a look at the Sega Dreamcast – many years after it was discontinued, there are still games being developed for it, now how about that?
