NFC technology can be used to identify knockoff products

There are a lot of knock off products to be had these days. All one would have to do is take a stroll in the night markets in Hong Kong and China and you will have no problems finding yourself a fake LV or Prada bag. However there is a difference between you wanting to buy a knock off product, and being conned into buying a knock off product by someone telling you that it’s real.

Inside Secure has come up with a way that will allow us to detect whether a product is real or fake, simply by placing an NFC chip within the genuine product. All the consumer would have to do is take their smartphone and do a quick scan, and if the product is real, the information should appear on their phones. If the product is fake, and thus not feature an NFC chip, the consumer will know that it is not real.

With more uses of NFC starting to pop up, apart from a sales transaction, hopefully more manufacturers will start seeing the usefulness of the technology and start making their devices NFC capable.
