Microsoft confirms LTE Windows Phone devices by Nokia

While LTE is considered to be quite the battery drainer, there is without doubt that many users are willing to sacrifice battery life for super fast connectivity. Microsoft has recently confirmed that LTE will be coming to Windows Phone devices, and it appears that Nokia may be the first amongst Windows Phone manufacturers to push out LTE capable Windows Phone devices.

However if you were hoping that you will be seeing an LTE capable Windows Phone device any time soon, you might have to wait as WP 7.5 does not offer support for LTE. Instead the support for LTE will be coming from a later version of the OS which is reportedly already under development, but no word on when it will drop.

Nokia will not be the only handset manufacturer with access to this LTE update, as all other WP manufacturers received the update as well. It seems that Nokia was just the first to announce it, which we guess is something they should be excited about considering that they have shifted pretty much all of their focus onto Microsoft’s mobile platform.
