iPad 3 displays of 2048×1536 rumored to be in production

Awhile back there were some rumors that Apple would be releasing the iPad 3 with a display that featured a resolution of 2048×1536. However the rumors also stated that it was this type of resolution that was causing manufacturers some problems, and that Apple might be shipping an iPad 3 with a lowered resolution instead.

Now it seems that those rumors are back and now sources are claiming that the 2048×1536 resolution has started production, naming Samsung, Sharp and LG Display as its manufacturers. This would basically double the current resolution on the iPad 2 which sports a display resolution of 1024×768.

However as far as Apple rumors go, they’re generally more miss than hit so until an actual announcement has been made, we’ll just take this with a grain of salt for now, although an iPad 3 with a resolution of 2048×1536 is a tablet we wouldn’t mind getting our hands on.
