Intel to release x86 powered Android phones next year

If you’re looking forward to seeing an Intel powered Android smartphone, you will have to wait until next year and for Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 to be released before Intel releases their first x86 smartphone.

Intel has been dominating the processor market at least when it comes to computers and laptops, but oddly enough their presence was not felt when it came to smartphones and tablets, unless you take into account those expensive enterprise tablets running on Intel’s Atom processor.

The reason for Intel’s wait for ICS 4.0 is because ICS will be the first Android build that is Intel x86 ready, and with Nokia abandoning MeeGo, it looks like Intel will be turning to Google’s Android instead.
