HzO waterproofs your phone from the inside

Would you like to waterproof your smartphone without the need for a bulky case? Well a company called HzO has revealed a new nanotechnology which actually allows water to seep into your phone. What happens is that instead of trying to keep the water out, HzO’s technology allows water to enter the device, but protects the circuitry inside the phone from the water by creating a “nano-scale film barrier”.

This was demonstrated in a video where a Samsung Galaxy S2 was dropped into a bowl of water, but was still able to receive calls. The phone was treated to a coating of HzO’s technology prior to the demonstration, which explained how it managed to survive the dunk into the water. No word on how much this technology would cost, or if it would be available to consumers or if it needed to be applied on the assembly line, but for those interested, you can check out the demonstration video here.
