HTC Edge will be a quad-core Android smartphone

According to PocketNow’s sources, HTC is currently working on an Android handset that will be sporting a quad-core processor, possibly making this the first handset we’ve heard of that will run on NVIDIA’s Tegra-3 quad-core chipset, meaning we should be able to expect four 1.5GHz cores in the device.

It will apparently be known as the HTC Edge, and is said to sport a 4.7” 720p HD display, similar to the recently unveiled HTC Rezound. It is also been said to feature 1GB of RAM, an 8MP camera with a 28mm f/2.2 lens and with internal storage of 32GB. Beats Audio technology integration will also be featured, although that’s kind of expected.

It is unclear which version of Android it will run on, but with its release expected in Q1/Q2 of 2012 and with such high-end specs, we expect nothing less than Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on board, although that’s just a guess. So who’s looking forward to this bad boy?
