Blackberry Playbook sees price drop to $199 for the holiday season

RIM’s Blackberry Playbook has not exactly been flourishing. Despite good hardware, the software experience left many Blackberry owners feel like the tablet was missing a couple of crucial elements in the form of synchronization and integration with various Blackberry smartphone apps/features. This included BBM, emails, calendars and contacts.

The good news is that if you’re not a Blackberry smartphone owner or if you’re not too fussed about the lack of said features (which is expected to be coming in a future update), RIM is having a holiday promotion where customers in Canada and the US can pick up a Playbook tablet for $199, the same price that Amazon’s Kindle Fire is going for now.

No word on how long this promotion will last, but if you’re interested in learning more about RIM’s Blackberry Playbook and where you will be able to get one for yourself, just head on down to their website.
