Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1 source code coming to AOSP

Just yesterday we reported that Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich’s source code would be released on the 17th of November, but for manufacturers and developers, it looks like Christmas might have come just a little bit earlier. According to Jean-Baptiste Queru, a software engineer working on the Android Open Source Project, Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.1’s source code has already been made available.

Now this is great news for consumers as well, because with the source code being released, manufacturers and developers will be able to get their hands on and start cooking updates and custom ROMs, but I guess the only downside we have here is that we would have to play the waiting game. Stay tuned as we find out which manufacturer will be the first to push out the ICS update to their phones (apart from Samsung).
