Senators want more clear definition of “4G”

For those who are into mobile phones and mobile technology, being able to tell which carrier uses HSPA+ and which carrier uses LTE shouldn’t be an issue. However in terms of advertising and marketing, offering 4G can sometimes be a bit misleading, since the term now encompasses both HSPA+ and LTE.

This is apparently an issue, so much so that US Senators have put forward a new bill that will force carriers to disclose a number of things regarding “4G” speed, coverage, reliability, and the specific technology they use. What do you guys think? Will this have a huge impact on the way carriers conduct themselves or do you think that most people already know what they’re getting themselves into?
