Samsung to launch flexible OLED phones next year

A while back there were some concept renderings of a Samsung device with a foldable screen. By foldable we mean bendable, as in flexible. It looked pretty interesting but as to how well it would be received remains unknown. Rumors then floated up suggesting that the device would be put into production, and today Samsung has confirmed it themselves, stating that they are aiming to launch mobile phones with flexible displays in 2012.

Handsets with the flexible display are expected to be introduced in the early part of 2012, according to Samsung’s spokesman Robert Yi. We guess since Samsung already has the technology for a flexible OLED, which they have debuted before, it looks like they have managed to start mass producing it. Either way novelty idea or phone of the future, we’re excited to see what Samsung will be bringing to the table in 2012.
