Nokia’s future is flexible

It goes without saying that at any showfloor or showcase event, there will need to be a place reserved for concepts as well as what the future might bring. Nokia, the Finnish phone manufacturer, feels that being flexible is the key to unlocking the wallets of people down the road – hence their Future Lounge shows off a variety of upcoming displays, including this flexible one that you see above. It is known as the prototype Nokia Kinetic Device, where the display can be flexed across both the vertical and horizontal planes, where you will need to do so in order to control the interface, no two questions about it.

Should you decide to bend the screen towards yourself, it will work as a selection function, or zoom in on any images that you are currently looking at. When you switch over to music mode, you are able to navigate, play and pause using the tactile interface. Fret not though, this is still far away in the future, so expect phones to follow a similar form factor as of today for some time to come.

Our appetites are whet for the future though – what about you?
