Nokia lets you book a taxi via NFC

Apart from mobile payment services, NFC can be used in a variety of other ways too. In this case, Nokia together with Taiwan Mobile (a carrier) have managed to embed NFC technology into a poster, and simply by tapping their NFC enabled Nokia devices against the poster will send a text message to a local cab company requesting for a ride.

This service while currently only available in a canteen at Nokia Taiwan, expects to start making its way around to more than 15,000 stores. With the more recent Symbian Belle devices coming with support for NFC, it looks like staying on the phone for the next 10 minutes while they try to search for a taxi for you could be a thing of the past.
